Grace Moore was an American operatic soprano and actress who was born in 1898.
Known as the “Tennessee Nightingale,” she achieved professional recognition for
bringing opera to a wider audience through her work in musical theatre and film.
After moving to New York City in 1919, she performed in nightclubs such as The
Black Cat Café and made her Broadway debut in the musical revue Hitchy-Koo
(1920). Moore made her operatic debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1928 as Mimì
