Louis Marshall Jones, known professionally as Grandpa Jones, and born on October 20, 1913, in Niagara, Kentucky, was an American banjo player and old time/country music singer. He began his music career singing country tunes on WJW radio in Akron, Ohio. In 1935, he moved to WBZ radio in Boston, where musician/songwriter Bradley Kincaid gave him the nickname "Grandpa Jones." He also joined the Pine Ridge String Band and later performed on the Old Dominion Barn Dance and the Grand Ole Opry. His first hit was "It's Raining Here This Morning" (1944).
