Grupo Néctar, formed in 1995 in Buenos Aires by Johnny Orosco, Ricardo “Papita” Hinostroza, Enrique Orosco, and Juan Carlos Marchand, emerged from the Peruvian cumbia tradition. Their first recording was Embriágame suavecito (1997), and they gained widespread recognition with Los Reyes de la Cumbia (1998), featuring the popular track “El arbolito”, which was a major hit in Peru.
