An American band formed in Dayton, Ohio, in 1983, Guided by Voices straddle the border between post-punk-inspired rock and lo-fi alternative, demonstrating rare longevity since their 1987 debut Devil Between My Toes. Five albums later, the Ohio band formed by Robert Pollard became fashionable with the classic Bee Thousand (1994), followed by a contract with Matador.
