Rodney Glenn Armstrong, known professionally as Guitar Slim Jr., was born on
August 24, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an American blues guitarist
and singer, following in the footsteps of his father, the noted blues performer
Guitar Slim. Guitar Slim Jr.'s career began with extensive work on the New
Orleans blues club circuit. His breakthrough came with the release of Story of
My Life in 1988, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional
