Heiner Franz, born July 3, 1946, in Tübingen, Germany, is a jazz guitarist and
record producer. He studied evangelical theology from 1966 to 1972 and worked as
a religion teacher before leaving the church service in 1979 to pursue music
full-time. Franz collaborated with notable artists such as Louis Stewart and the
European Jazz Guitar Orchestra. In 1988, he founded his own label, Jardis, and
established the Internationale Jazz Guitar Meeting in Spiesen-Elversberg in
