Hilliard Greene is an American bassist and music educator born on February 26,
1958. Specializing in modern creative and jazz music, Greene studied at Berklee
College of Music and the University of Northern Iowa. Greene served as musical
director for singer Jimmy Scott for twenty years. Greene performed as
concertmaster for Cecil Taylor’s ensemble Phtongos and played in a trio with Don
Pullen. Leading the ensemble The Jazz Expressions, Greene recorded the albums
