Ian McDougall was a Canadian jazz trombonist. He joined the Victoria Boy’s Band
at age 11 and began performing locally. In 1960, he toured with the John
Dankworth Band in Great Britain. McDougall co-founded the fusion group Pacific
Salt in 1970, which recorded three LPs before their inactivity by the early
1980s. He moved to Toronto in 1973 and joined Rob McConnell in the Boss Brass
group, becoming a featured soloist until 1991. During this period with Rob
