Idrissa Soumaoro
Idrissa Soumaoro illustrates a certain image of Africa as a land of trickery and
plunder. The Malian had one of his compositions stolen by the Congolese Zao in
1984. The latter covered the song "Ancien Combattant", without paying the
slightest royalty to Idrissa Soumaoro, its true author. A teacher by profession,
Idrissa Soumaoro didn't release Köte, his first proper album, until 2003.
Djitoumou in 2010 marks the return of an artist of undeniable authenticity.
