If was a British progressive rock and jazz-rock band formed in 1969. The group,
originally consisting of Dave Quincy, Dick Morrissey, and Terry Smith, released
its self-titled debut album If (1970) under Island Records in the UK and Capitol
Records in the US. The band toured extensively across Europe, the United States,
and Canada between 1970 and 1975, performing at festivals such as the Newport
Jazz Festival and the Reading Festival, and at the Fillmore East on November 10,
1970. Their subsequent albums include If 2 (1971), If 3 (1971), Waterfall
(1972), Double Diamond (1973), ...
