Iis Laeliyah, known professionally as Iis Dahlia, was born on 29 May 1972 in
West Java, Indonesia, and began performing in elementary school, later studying
voice at The Association of Indonesian Singer Artists and Musicians before
moving to Jakarta. Her professional breakthrough came with the 1990 dangdut
single "Tamu Tak Diundang" from the album of the same name, which propelled her
to national attention and earned her an HDX Award for album sales that same
