IllScarlett was formed in 2001 in Clarkson, Mississauga, Ontario, by drummer
Swavek Piorkowski and vocalist‑guitarist Alex Norman, after meeting at Iona
Catholic Secondary School; bassist Daniel Krolikowski later joined, completing
the original trio. The band’s first public breakthrough came in 2004 when they
performed a generator‑powered set outside the Vans Warped Tour venue in Barrie,
Ontario, catching the attention of organizer Kevin Lyman, who invited them to a
private barbecue and subsequently booked the band for two years of Warped Tour
