Jack Wright
Jack Wright, born in 1942 in Pittsburgh, is an American free jazz and
improvisation musician, saxophonist, and pianist. He began playing saxophone in
1952 and sang in church choirs before pursuing European history at Lafayette
College and Johns Hopkins University. He transitioned to full‑time music in the
late 1970s, toured Europe from 1983 to 1986, and established the East Coast Free
Music Festival in Philadelphia. His recordings were released under his own
Spring Garden Music label, and he collaborated with artists such as William
