Jane Harvey
Jane Harvey, born Phyllis Taff on January 6, 1925, in Jersey City, New Jersey,
was an American jazz singer. She began her career in the 1940s at Café Society
in Greenwich Village, New York, adopting the stage name Jane Harvey. Bandleader
Benny Goodman hired her for concerts and recordings, including Close as Pages in
a Book, which reached number 11 on the US charts. In 1946, she became the lead
vocalist for the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, recording "Mi Vida" and "A Rainy Night in
Rio" and performing at Ciro’s nightclub. After marrying music producer Bob
Thiele, she temporarily withdrew...
