Janice Kapp Perry (born October 1, 1938) is an American contemporary gospel
composer, songwriter, and author from Ogden, Utah. Raised in Vale, Oregon, Perry
studied music theory at Brigham Young University (BYU). At age 38, following a
sports injury, she began composing for her local church. She released her debut
album, Where is Heaven, in 1978. Perry wrote nearly 3,000 songs, including “I
Love to See the Temple” and “A Child's Prayer”, which appeared in the official
