Jeff Porcaro
Jeffrey Thomas Porcaro (born April 1 1954 in Hartford, Connecticut) was an
American drummer who began playing at age seven under his father, Los Angeles
session percussionist Joe Porcaro, and later studied with Bob Zimmitti and
Richie Lepore. His first professional gig was touring with Sonny & Cher at
seventeen, and he gained national recognition as the drummer on Steely Dan’s
Katy Lied (1975). In 1978 he co‑founded Toto with brothers Steve and Mike
