Jerzy Matuszkiewicz

Jerzy Jan “Duduś” Matuszkiewicz (10 April 1928 – 31 July 2021) was a Polish jazz saxophonist and composer of film and television music. He was a co-founder and leader of Melomani, formed in Łódź in the early 1950s and regarded as one of the pioneering groups of post-war Polish jazz. Matuszkiewicz also helped organize the early jazz festivals in Sopot in 1956 and 1957. From the mid-1960s, he increasingly focused on composing for film and television, creating music for around 200 productions.
