Australian singer-songwriter Joanne Ruth Charlotte Accom, known mononymously as
Joanne, was born on November 13, 1978, in Melbourne, Victoria. Her first single,
"Jackie", released in late 1998, marked her breakthrough moment, reaching number
3 on the ARIA Charts and becoming the highest-selling single by an Australian
artist during the eligibility period for the 1999 ARIA Music Awards. Credited as
B.Z. featuring Joanne or Joanne/BZ, this release set the stage for her
subsequent singles "Pack Your Bags" and "Are You Ready", both released in 1999.
