John Wayne Conlee, born on August 11, 1946, in Versailles, Kentucky, is an
American country music singer and songwriter. He began singing and playing
guitar at age 10. In 1976, he signed to ABC Records and charted for the first
time in 1978 with "Rose Colored Glasses", which reached number 5 on the
Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. His debut album Rose Colored Glasses
produced his first two Number 1 hits: "Lady Lay Down" and "Backside of Thirty".
