John Knowles
John Knowles, born in 1942, is an American acoustic guitarist whose early
musical journey began with accordion and ukulele before transitioning to guitar
during his studies and while earning a physics degree at Texas Christian
University. His breakthrough came through the recognition of Chet Atkins, who
awarded him the title Certified Guitar Player, joining a select group of
fingerstyle artists. Knowles released Sittin' Back Pickin in 1979, followed by
Heart Songs in 2019, the latter collaborating with Tommy Emmanuel. His work has
