Jan Hoes, known professionally as Johnny Hoes, and born on April 19, 1917, is a Dutch singer-songwriter and producer. He gained popularity as a singer in the 1950s and 1960s. His first significant success came with "De Smokkelaar" in 1956. In 1961, Hoes released "Och, was ik maar bij moeder thuis gebleven", which became one of the best-selling Dutch-language songs, selling 450,000 copies.
