Johannes Hendricus van Musscher, known professionally as Johnny Jordaan, was
born on February 7, 1924, in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He
began singing at a young age to support his family and adopted the stage name
"Johnny Jordaan" at 14. His breakthrough came in 1955 when he won the "Jordaan
festival," organized by Bovema Records and Louis Noiret. This led to his first
single, "De Parel van de Jordaan", which was released with "Bij ons in de
