Joseph Robinson
Joseph Robinson, born in 1940, is an American oboist who studied under John Mack
and Marcel Tabuteau. In 1967, he was appointed principal oboe of the Atlanta
Symphony by Music Director Robert Shaw. After teaching at the North Carolina
School of the Arts from 1974 to 1978 and performed with the Clarion Woodwind
Quintet and Piedmont Chamber Orchestra. He won the New York Philharmonic
Principal Oboe audition in December 1977 and served as Principal Oboe from 1978
