Juan Carlos Zarabanda, born on April 3, 1972, in the rural hamlet of Buena
Vista, Chaparral (Tolima), began singing at age seven and earned early acclaim
by winning multiple local vallenato festivals. In his youth, he performed with
his school band and later joined Los Hermanos Campos before forming Trío
Sensación alongside his cousin Didier and fellow musicians, which led to his
debut LP Mi Madre Está en el Cielo in 1992—an album that resonated deeply within
