The Kastelruther Spatzen came together in 1975 in their namesake hometown of Kastelruth to play popular pop music. After a few line-up changes, 1983 is considered the official founding year. Their first single "Das Mädchen mit den erloschenen Augen" and their debut album Viel Spass und Freude followed in the same year.
