Ken Colyer’s Jazzmen was a New Orleans jazz-influenced British group founded in 1953. Their debut release is now considered one of the most important albums in British jazz history. Trumpeter and cornetist Ken Colyer was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England on April 18, 1928. He had a reputation in the jazz world as a purest and had no interest in altering his musical vision in order to embrace commercialism.
