Kevin Norton, born on January 21, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American
percussionist and composer active in the New York City jazz and contemporary
music scenes. His early career was marked by collaborations with bassist Milt
Hinton and participation in Fred Frith’s experimental band Keep the Dog, leading
to recordings such as The Judge’s Decision (1986). In 1999, he founded Barking
Hoop Recordings, releasing For Guy Debord (1999) and Play the Music of Anthony
