King Stitt
Winston Sparks, born on September 17, 1940 in Kingston, Jamaica, was a DJ also
known as King Stitt. He began deejaying on Clement Dodd’s Sir Cozsone's Downbeat
Sound System in 1956. His notable tracks include "Fire Corner", "Lee Van Cleef",
and "Herbsman Shuffle" on Clancy Eccles’ Clandisc label. In 1969, he released
Fire Corner on Trojan Records and later Dance Hall '63 on Studio One in 1993 and
Reggae Fire Beat on Jamaican Gold in 1996. King Stitt returned to recording the
2000s with Bruno Blum’s "The Original Ugly Man" and the "Zoot Suit Hipster". He
died on January 31, 2012.
