Kirsten Bråten Berg is a Norwegian traditional folk singer and silversmith who
was born in Arendal, Norway, in 1950. She is famous for her work in the kveding
vocal tradition and for bridging Norwegian and West African musical cultures.
Berg achieved early professional recognition in 1970 after attending a folk
music course and has since won several Spellemannprisen awards, including for
the recordings Slinkombas (1979) and Min kvedarlund (1988). Her discography
