Klymaxx, an American all-female pop/R&B band from Los Angeles, California, were
formed in 1979 by Bernadette Cooper. The original lineup included Lorena "Lungs"
Porter Shelby, Cheryl Cooley, Robbin Grider, and Lynn Malsby, with Joyce
"Fenderella" Irby joining later. Klymaxx's debut album Never Underestimate the
Power of a Woman was released in 1981, followed by Girls Will Be Girls in 1982.
Their breakthrough came with the 1984 release of Meeting in the Ladies Room,
which featured the top five US Billboard R&B chart success "The Men All Pause",
