La Comuna was a Mexican rock band formed in Mexico City in 1969 as part of the
country's countercultural La Onda movement. Influenced by classical music, jazz,
and progressive rock groups such as Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, and Procol
Harum, the band became known for its original English- and Spanish-language
songs, lengthy improvisations, and multimedia performances combining poetry and
visual art. They gained national attention after placing second at the Naranjazo
Pop Festival, leading to a recording contract with Peerless and the release of
