Larry Taylor was born in New York; his early life saw him moving between East
Tennessee, California and New York. He was the bass player and occasional
guitarist with a host of musicians, coming to prominence with Canned Heat who he
played with initially between between 1967 and 1970. During this period he
played with the band at music festivals including the Monterey International Pop
Festival and Woodstock. Before this, however, he toured with Jerry Lee Lewis and
played with blues and jazz musicians Albert King, Solomon Burke, Buddy Guy and
Charlie Musselwhite.
