Laurie Alexis Lewis is an American bluegrass singer, fiddler, and songwriter who
was born in 1950. She began her musical training on the piano and violin and
later transitioned to the guitar and fiddle after attending the Berkeley Folk
Festival. In the early 1970s, she played with the band The Phantoms of the Opry
and co-founded the all-female group Good Ol' Persons. She founded the Grant
Street String Band in 1979 and released the album Grant Street String Band
