Leroy Burgess
Leroy O'Neil Jackson Jr., known as Leroy Burgess, was born on August 20, 1953,
in New York, and is an American singer, songwriter, keyboard player, recording
artist, arranger, and record producer. He began his musical career at age 16 as
a member of Black Ivory, which included Stuart Bascombe and Russell Patterson.
Signed to Today/Perception Records in 1970, he served as lead vocalist for
several R&B hits, including "Don't Turn Around" (1969) and "Spinning Around".
Despite the rise of disco, Black Ivory released notable tracks like "Mainline",
