Lucienne Canetti, known professionally as Lucienne Vernay, was born on December
12, 1919, in Alger. She began her musical education at the Conservatoire de
Musique d'Alger and started her career as a singer after meeting Jacques Canetti
in 1943. She joined Radio France's troupe in Algeria, where Canetti was
directing. In 1947, Vernay married Canetti and moved to Paris, where they opened
the Théâtre des Trois Baudets. Throughout the 1950s, Vernay released several
