Lucille Hegamin
Lucille Nelson Hegamin, born November 29, 1894, in Macon, Georgia, was an
American singer. She began performing at a young age and by 15 was touring with
the Leonard Harper Minstrel Stock Company. In 1914, she settled in Chicago,
where she met and married her husband Bill Hegamin and performed under the
billing "The Georgia Peach." In November 1920, Hegamin became the second
African-American blues singer to record, following Mamie Smith. She released
notable recordings for Arto Records and Paramount, including "Arkansas Blues"
