Luísa Vilar Braamcamp Sobral, known as Luísa Sobral, was born on September 18, 1987, in Lisbon, Portugal. She is a singer and songwriter who gained prominence at the age of 16 when she finished third in the first season of Ídolos, the Portuguese version of Idols. After taking a hiatus to study music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Sobral returned to the music industry with her debut album, The Cherry on My Cake, released in 2011.
