Lyudmila Markovna Gurchenko, born Lyudmila Gurchenkova on November 12, 1935, in
Kharkiv, USSR, was a Soviet and Russian singer and actress. She began her career
by auditioning for the local Beethoven Music School, performing the song "About
Vitya Cherevichkin" to secure her acceptance as an acting student. Gurchenko's
breakthrough came at age 21 when she starred in Eldar Ryazanov's 1956 musical
