M|A|R|R|S, a British house music recording collective, were formed in 1987
through a collaboration between shoegaze group A R Kane and electronic band
Colourbox. The project included DJs CJ Mackintosh and Dave Dorrell on scratching
and John Fryer on sampling duties. M|A|R|R|S released their debut single "Pump
Up the Volume" in August 1987, which went to number one in the UK charts and
