Maanam, a Polish rock band formed in Kraków in 1975, emerged from the Polish
hippie movement. The group's name is believed to derive from either the
altpersian word for "I am" or an abbreviation for a duet between Marek Jackowski
and Milo Kurtis. Their debut performance occurred in 1976 with Kora (Olga
Jackowska), Marek Jackowski, and Milo Kurtis. After Kurtis left, John Porter
