The Norwegian trio Madrugada has nothing to do with fado or flamenco, as their
Iberian name might suggest. Comprising vocalist Sivert Høyem, bassist Frode
Jacobsen, and late guitarist and songwriter Robert Burås, Madrugada stands for
alternative rock with often melancholic moods, offering a direct line to acts
like Gun Club or Morphine. Madrugada was founded in 1995 and released their
debut album Industrial Silence in 1999. The band's sophomore album, 2001's The
Nightly Disease, received critical acclaim, as did 2005 offering The Deep End.
