Makoto
Makoto Shimizu, known professionally as Makoto, is a Japanese drum and bass
musician born in 1977 in Tokyo. He began producing music around 1998, influenced
by the drum and bass style of Goldie’s Timeless and LTJ Bukem’s Logical
Progression. His early releases include the singles “Far East / Butterfly”
(1999) and the Situations EP (2000). Makoto’s unique sound received the
attention of LTJ Bukem, leading to features on several of Bukem’s mix CDs. He
