Manik Varma, born on May 16, 1926, was an Indian classical singer associated with the Kirana and Agra gharanas. She also performed semi-classical forms including thumri, Marathi natya sangeet, bhajans, and devotional music. She trained under Hirabai Barodkar, Suresh Babu Mane, Bholanath Bhatt, Azmat Hussain Khan “Dalrang,” and Jagannath Bua Purohit “Gunidas.” In 1955, her singing was featured in Geet Ramayana, a year-long All India Radio program in Pune.
