Marios Tokas, born in 1954 in Limassol, Cyprus, was a composer known for his
work in traditional and world music. His musical journey began at age 13 after
seeing Mikis Theodorakis and Maria Farantouri perform. Tokas released his first
album, Tragoudia tis pareas (Lieder der Freunde), in 1978, featuring songs by
Manolis Mitsias. A notable collaboration was with Greek poet Giannis Ritsos on
the 1981 album Pikrameni mou genia (Meine verbitterte Generation). Throughout
