Mary Ann McCall
Mary Ann McCall was born on May 4, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a
child, she overcame rickets through dance classes, which led her to pursue a
performing career. In the late 1930s, McCall began singing with various jazz
bands, including those led by Charlie Barnet and Tommy Dorsey. By 1949, she had
won the Down Beat Readers' Poll for "Girl Singer (With Band)". Throughout the
1940s and 1950s, McCall released several albums, including An Evening with
Charlie Ventura and Mary Ann McCall (1954) and Easy Living (1957). She toured
with Stan Kenton's Festival of Modern America...
