Born in Lebowakgomo, South Africa, on November 4, 1993, soprano Masabane Cecilia
Rangwanasha began singing in church, before studying opera singing at the
University of Cape Town. Engaged by Cape Town Opera for two years in its young
artists program, she won over audiences in The Magic Flute and Porgy and Bess,
and continued her training at Tshwane University of Technology. She wins several
competition prizes, including the Audience Prize at the International Hans Gabor
Belvedere Singing Competition in 2019 and the Song Prize at the BBC Cardiff
