Melhelm Zein was born on October 21, 1982, in the Sayyida Zeinab district of
Damascus, Syria, to an Iraqi family from Najaf. He grew up in Lebanon's Bekaa
Valley as one of ten siblings. Although he earned a law degree, he pursued music
instead. His talent emerged in childhood, winning a regional school singing
competition at age 11 before studying music formally. He gained widespread
recognition through Super Star, where his powerful voice earned him the nickname
