Memphis, a musical duo, consisted of Torquil Campbell and Chris Dumont. The pair
met in New York City in the early 1990s, with both having roots in Canada and
North Carolina respectively. Their initial collaboration began when they played
together in a band called Luxe. Following this, Campbell and Dumont formed
Memphis after Campbell invited Dumont to Vancouver. Their debut release was the
EP A Good Day Sailing, released on Le Grand Magistery in 2001. The duo's first
full-length album, I Dreamed We Fell Apart, followed in 2004 on Paper Bag
