Michael Salgado
Michael Salgado, born Miguel Salgado on April 5, 1971, in Big Spring, Texas, is
an American Norteño and Tejano music singer and accordionist. His family roots
trace back to Barrancos, Chihuahua, Mexico. Salgado gained prominence in the
mid-1990s by looking back to the norteño sound influenced by Ramón Ayala and
introducing it to younger audiences. He performed with his brother Ernie on
guitar, his uncle Jamie on drums, and his compadre Joe Tanguma on bass. He began
climbing the Latin American music charts in 1995 after releasing the single
