Miguel Aceves Mejia
Miguel Aceves Mejía was born on November 15, 1915, in Chihuahua, Mexico. After
his father's death when he was four, he worked as a shoeshiner and newspaper
vendor. His breakthrough came when he won a singing contest at the Ford Motor
Company, leading to a position at radio station XEB El Buen Tono where he would
meet his future bandmates in Los Porteños. The band performed in Monterrey and
Los Angeles and recorded an album. After the band split, he became a bolero
